Project code: FAL-TT-02-JB-03-04
Contract period: 01.08.2004 - 31.05.2005
Purpose of research: Basic research

The study was conducted in order to investigate possible effects of a combined application of the probiotic feed additive BioPlus 2B and the coccidiostat Maduramicin-Ammonium-Alpha on health and performance of turkeys for fattening. Results lead to the conclusion that the probiotic feed additive BioPlus 2B is compatible with the coccidiostat Maduramicin-Ammonium-Alpha and therefore it can be stated that a combined use of both additives in compound feeding stuffs is possible. Positive effects of the feed additives on the health of the food-pads due to indirect effects on litter quality could not be shown. The probiotic BioPlus 2B improved the weight gain of the turkeys but had no significant impact on mortality rate, feed consumption, feed conversion or carcass quality.
