Collaborative project: TeleAgro+: Evaluation of agricultural telematics data to improve business processes and optimize agricultural logistics - subproject 1

Project

Project code: 2815404910
Contract period: 01.11.2011 - 31.10.2014
Budget: 306,239 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

The TeleAgro+ project aimed at exploring and enhancing methods and techniques for improving decision making processes by farmers and contractors such as mobility of agricultural vehicles. For this purpose, innovative data sources such as telematics data as well as volunteered geographic information e.g., OpenStreetMap streets network were utilized. The objectives of the project were realized by a) generating a richer routing database, b) delineating agricultural land parcels, c) optimizing the timing from origin to destination of these vehicles. Furthermore, the developed methods and tools were embedded within TeleAgro+ architecture, which consists of a mobile App and a desktop user interface compatible with CLAAS telematics usable for the target farmer groups. Following the adjustment to the special requirements for agricultural routing the free OpenStreetMap data has been integrated as a basic data record in the routing system. The service architecture in the project TeleAgro+ consists of several services that provide the algorithmically processed telemetry data as field boundaries, as well as vehicle speeds and road networks, and a special route planning service. A Web UI for agricultural directions on desktop and mobile devices has been implemented prototypically as a demonstrator which calculates a vehicle-specific route planning to your destination point. Service interfaces are designed to provide the telemetry data that enable easy integration of data in a service-oriented architecture. In addition, the integration of spatial data, and a new user interface for CLAAS Telematics have been realized.
