Purpose of research: Applied research

In this integrated project (projects: 05BM007-1; 05BM007-2) is based on the crop Lactuca sativa exemplified as historical varieties of lettuce can be established again successful as a niche segment of the horticulture for the regional market, with the entire value chain from providing the seed to be optimized over the cultivation and through various marketing channels to consumers. The steps in the project include, accordingly, the selection of suitable varieties for cultivation practice and on-farm conservation in the form of a utility collection and production optimization of the old varieties. Under field conditions are the everyday work in the horticulture occurring problems are demonstrating leadership culture and eliminated. Variety descriptions and cultivation of suitable varieties recommendations to help ensure that their use in commercial horticulture is clearly conveyed.
