Collaborative project: Reduction of herbicide use in cereal growing with respect to herbicide resistance status in main weed species for ALS- and ACCase inhibitors - OPTIHERB - subproject 4

Project

Project code: 2814702911
Contract period: 15.07.2012 - 14.07.2015
Budget: 60,178 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

Herbicides are very important pesticides with a portion > 50 %. To reduce environmental risks, models are needed to estimate the site-specific reduction potential without loosing efficacy and without increasing the risk for evolution of herbicide resistant weed biotypes. Aim of the project OPTIHERB is a significant reduction in winter cereal herbicide use and therefore achieving a relevant decline in the risk of environmental pollution. An internet based decision support system for site-specific estimation of needed herbicide dose under consideration of herbicide resistance evolution processes will be developed. A combination of sensitivity in relevant weed species and site-specific aspects (weed species, density, stages and climatic conditions) will lead to a model for calculating the efficacy of low herbicide dosages. In the last steps of the project a decision support system (DSS) will be implemented on the internet platform ISIP. The DSS will be available for the extention services for proving the application and improving the model with the experiences of use in practise.
