Purpose of research: Experimental development
With DLG-PowerMix 2.0 German Agricultural Society (DLG) has established the highest standard for tractor testing worldwide, providing the specific fuel consumption (g/kWh) of the overall system tractor, resulting from 14 practice-oriented load cycles. The new, climate-controlled roller dynamometer (135 kN per drum, 65 mph, 30 t axle load), opened in 2017, has additional load units for PTO (7000 Nm) and hydraulic (600 l/min), as well as measurement technology for fuel consumption, DEF and exhaust gas emissions. At present, measurements are primarily performed on tractors, but testing of trucks, aircraft tugs, wheeled tanks, etc. are also intended. This state-of-the-art test stand for the overall system tractor provides farmers with hard data for their investment decision. Manufacturers get evidence about their products or components tested under practice-oriented, but repeatable, operating conditions. Even minor efficiency optimizations in the < 1 % range can be analyzed.
