Collaborative project: GPS- and server-based irrigation management for vegetable crops using climatic water balance (GS-Mobil) - subproject 2
Project
Project code: 2815500311
Contract period: 01.10.2012
- 30.09.2015
Budget: 230,165 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
It is our aim to create an up-to-date sprinkling advice in combination with the latest technology. The new system, based on the climatic water balance, will allow contemporary and precise determination of the irrigation requirement of vegetables and guarantees an efficient use of water. The tremendous advantage is the saving of time. This is the result of minimised data input, automatic processing of meteorological parameters and notification of upcoming irrigation via smart phone. Moreover there will be an improvement of the availability of information; an improvement of the use of irrigation machines and the possibility to integrate it into the Precision Farming method. HELM will develop a web-communication server, an app and a logistic model. The k-server saves data of georeferenced acreages and information about irrigation received from the smart phone. Based on these information it retrieves irrigation recommendations from the DVD server that will get displayed on the app. The logistic model is supposed to submit an optimised adjustement of the irrigation use according to range and priority. Latest web technologies (e.g. Cloud), geo data processing and mobile concepts also working without the Internet or weak Internet connection will be used.
