During the three-year project period, the consultancy concept “Fokus-Naturtag” was developed in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations from agriculture and nature conservation in three German federal states. It was then tested and analyzed on one hundred farms. The aim of the consultancy concept was to foster environmental aware-ness among farmers as designers of landscapes, provide them with new ideas for nature conservation measures on farm and increase their motivation to implement these measures. “Fokus-Naturtag” serves as a tool kit for cost-effective and efficient consultancy for enhancing biodiversity on farm level. The tool kit facilitates a flexible practical implementation of its individual components. “Fokus-Naturtag” is compatible with EU-guidelines for consultancy in the areas of environmental and nature conservation. The last year of the project was dedicated to the evaluation of the consultancy concepts “Fokus-Naturtag” and “Kulturlandplan”. The focus of the evaluation was: (i) on the implementation of ecological measures by farmers, (ii) on facilitating and hindering factors encountered in implementing these measures, (iii) on the creation of environmental awareness of farmers and (iv) on potential for improving the consultancy concept.
