Purpose of research: Applied research
The Panbox software provides client-side encryption of files within arbitrary cloud-storage-services. The encryption, as well as all the keys used, are always under control of the user. Hence the confidentiality of the data is protected by cryptographic means when leaving the computer of the user. Panbox allows the sharing of files by multiple users as well as the access to the data from multiple devices of the same user. The necessary key- and identity management of Panbox is implemented such that no trust in a third party or the cloud-storage-provider is needed. The Panbox architecture is cross-platform (PCs and mobile devices) and open for the integration of arbitrary cloud-storage-services. The implementation will be published under an open source licence upon the end of the project.
