Collaborative project: Development of an innovative non-invasive monitoring and evaluation process in the research of fishery - subproject 11

Project

Project code: 2819101712
Contract period: 01.07.2013 - 30.06.2015
Budget: 1,159,557 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The joint research project aims at revolutionizing the conventional data collection and analysis procedures in fisheries biology as well as ecology by implementing alternative automated recording and analysis systems. New modern electronic and sensory devices will be applied along with new innovative software solutions. As a result different pre-prototypes will be produced that help to substantially increase the efficiency of data collection and analysis through automation. Moreover, it will revolutionize the classical working structures in fisheries biology in different aspects. The proposed joint research project will thus lead directly to eco-friendly und economically sustainable fisheries and aquacultures thereby supporting the ideas of the CFP of the EU. The joint project consists of 4 work packages being further divided into sub-projects reflecting the single tasks of the project partners: 1. Development of a non-invasive acoustic-optic underwater fish observatory (UFO) 2. Electronic monitoring as basis for catch quota management (FISH-EM)3. New, innovative approaches to retrace fish and fishproducts as a contribution for consumer safety and reducing illegal fishery 4. Development of a pressure-chamberflow-channel to parameterize the influence of harmful substances and diseases on the capacity of European eel reproduction The workplan and its interacting components may be taken from the GANNT diagrams of the project application text.
