REGECON - Economics of Climate Change: Regional Economic EvaluaCon of AdaptaCon Measures in Agricultural, Forestry, and Bioenergy ProducCon under the Influence of Climate Change
Project
Project code: 01LA1101A
Contract period: 01.12.2011
- 31.03.2015
Budget: 445,225 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Project aim: To link a regional economic evaluation model for agricultural
outputs (REMBIO) with the crop growth simulator PIXGRO, in order to examine potential effects of climate change on production, including that of bioenergy crops, and to consider potentials in policy-making and land use planning.
Step-wise Objectives: To obtain spatially-explicit estimates for agricultural yield in multiple scenarios of annual climate and agricultural land use, also with introduction of 2nd generation bioenergy crops. To determine economically favorable land use in producti
on in the context of different adaptation strategies to climate change (including policy options). To examine potential effects of climate, land use modification and policy changes on the welfare of farmers. To evaluate the tradeoffs between crop production for food and for biomass, as well as between 1st and 2nd generation biomass crops in terms of land use and economic gains and losses.
