Innovative solutions to sustainable Soil Phosphorus management, Sub-projects A-C (InnoSoilPhos)

Project

Project code: 031A558A
Contract period: 01.03.2015 - 28.02.2018
Budget: 1,568,094 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research

Objectives: develops solutions for optimizing soil phosphorus (P) fertility as a basis for a future bio-economy that radically lowers our dependency on finite phosphate rock reserves, and vulnerability to increasing mineral P fertilizer prices at the global scale. Therefore, the knowledge basis for the sustainable use of soil phosphorus in agriculture will be improved by (1) maintaining and enhancing the soil’s P fertility, and (2) developing, testing and applying new technologies and products that close the phosphorus cycle, thereby protecting global P resources. Furthermore, the corresponding socio-economic and political/legal framework of an optimized agricultural phosphorus cycle is developed to translate the scientific findings into societal practice.
