Establishment and application of the next generation sequencing (NGS) and proteomics technology to analyse mycotoxin biosynthesis on the genome-, transcriptome and proteome level

Project

Food and consumer protection

This project contributes to the research aim 'Food and consumer protection'. Which funding institutions are active for this aim? What are the sub-aims? Take a look:
Food and consumer protection

Project code: MRI-OG-08-42709_NGS
Contract period: 01.04.2014 - 31.03.2016
Purpose of research: Applied research

Within the project a NGS sequencing technology will be established to enable genome and transcriptom analysis of toxigenic fungi and bacteria from various important habitates. For the mycotoxin producing fungi comparisons of the transcriptom of cultures grown under permissive or non-permissive conditions for mycotoxin biosynthesis will be carried out to get information about mycotoxin biosynthesis genes. Seqeuncing of whole genomes of important mycotoxin producing fungi will be carried out. For the bacteria meta genome approaches will be established for the characterization of bacterial populations. The NGS system could be used for the first analysis of the meta genome of a population of gut bacteria. For mycotoxin producing fungi the first sequencing of a complete genome could be performed. The data obtained are currently being analysed.
