Real driving emissions of non-road mobile machinery – Commissioning of a new portable emission measurement system, evaluation of methods and measurements
Project
Project code: BE/15/01
Contract period: 01.01.2015
- 31.12.2017
Purpose of research: Applied research
Scope of the project is the establishment of a portable emission measurement system (PEMS) for gaseous emission components, particulate mass and number in order to measure real driving emissions (RDE) of mobile agricultural machinery and to develop an evaluation method of measurement data which is also suitable for biofuels. Furthermore RDE measurements should be conducted on non-road mobile machinery, including variation and comparison of operating conditions. Measurements should be carried out with diesel as well as rapeseed oil fuel. The collected data can help to determine real world emissions of mobile machinery, to support the development of biofuel compatible propulsion systems, to improve air quality and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The key activities of the project are the survey of state of the art concerning the measurement of real driving emissions of non-road mobile machinery, establishment of a portable emission measurement system, development and evaluation of data analyzing methods, test measurements on selected vehicles and the evaluation and publication of the results.
