Quality assurance DIN 51605 (Fuels for vegetable oil compatible combustion engines - Fuel from rapeseed oil - Requirements and test methods)
Project
Project code: EW/13/41
Contract period: 01.04.2013
- 31.12.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
Due to the growing use of exhaust gas after-treatment systems in vehicles, in the German standard DIN 51605 the limiting values for Ca, P and Mg in rapeseed oil fuel were lowered significantly. By after-treating the oil with adsorbents or citric acid, decentral oil mills can achieve very low concentrations and thus produce rapeseed oil fuel according to the standard. Since after-treatment systems were introduced into decentral oil mills just recently, little experience is available. So this process step needs to be further optimized and integrated into the quality assurance system applied in the oil mills. In the project, five decentral oil mills shall be guided during the roll-out of an after-treatment system. The exchange of experiences between the oil mills shall be established, too.
