Status quo of decentralized oil extraction - nationwide survey
Project
Project code: 529/111
Contract period: 01.03.2011
- 31.08.2011
Purpose of research: Applied research
The number of decentral oil mills increased steadily up to about 600 until 2007. Products are rapeseed oil fuel and protein rich press cake. Low prices for mineral oil and increased energy taxes on pure biofuels inhibit competitive prices. In consequence many oil mills closed down or reduced their production rate. Other ways of distribution as feed, edible oils and technical applications are affected. The survey should trace the actual number of operating oil mills, the mass flow of the raw materials and thereby generated products. Extrapolations show the capacities of the sector. Further information is collected about decentral degumming of vegetable oil, the biofuel sustainability certification, about edible oils as well as the view of the oil millers.
