Production processes

Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1295
Contract period: 01.01.2015 - 31.12.2017
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: bioenergetic production, plant breeding, qualitative analysis

As part of the FNR funded project 'Extension of cultivation of Silphium perfoliatum by optimization of the cultivation procedure, development of a practicable sowing technique and further breeding investigation' the aim of this subproject is the development of a vibrational spectroscopic method for the qualitative analysis of Silphium perfoliatum with regard to the gas yield in the subsequent bioenergetic production. Based on reference values of dry matter, raw ashes, acid detergent fibre (ADF) and lignin content, suitable calibration models should be developed for the analysis of dried and milled plant material. A transfer of these models to fresh plant tissue directly in the field will be aspired to provide a fast and non-desctructive tool for the determination of the optimal date of harvest with regard to a maximun gas yield in the bioenergetic processes.
