Purpose of research: Experimental development
The research project OPeRAte was funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and explored the increase of efficiency in agricultural processes. Today, inadequate IT integration places a burden on agricultural processes. A lack of automation mechanisms, verbal agreements and the manual configuration of machinery prevent efficient workflows. Based on an intelligent liquid manure trailer for the nutrient-optimized application and documentation of farm manure, OPeRAte was able to demonstrate a substantial increase of efficiency. Additionally, processes without media discontinuity and in-tegrated modules for process control and data analysis minimize error potential for farmers and contractors. User-controlled automation mechanisms allow processes to be started with-out preliminary planning in the office, simply by linking machines to be executed. Compliance with regulations regarding execution and documentation can be ensured.
