Project code: 5349
Contract period: 30.07.2013 - 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Applied research

In organic farming soybeans are often grown as row crop with a spacing of more than 30 cm due to the possibility of hoeing. Therefore, an increased risk of soil erosion exists above all on hillsides. Mechanical weed control can intensify erosion by loosening the soil. The research project focuses on field trials on mulch till in organic growing soybean. The impact of various freezing cover crops will be examined in combination with and without seed bed preparation on mulch till of soybean. Additionally, the effect of diverse overwintering cover crops will be determined with different mechanical processes for killing the cover crops.
