Purpose of research: Experimental development
At BfR a method for the determination of T-2 and HT-2 toxin in cereal based foods for infants and young children by LC-MS/MS will be developed. This method is thoroughly in house validated for oat and oat products. This method will be able to quantify the T-2 and HT-2 toxin in cereal based foods by LC-MS/MS according the performance criteria in Annex II of COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 401/2006. Additionally the method will be validated in an international collaborative trial in accordance with ISO 5725 guideline for the accomplishment of collaborative study. The method validation report will be published as working document of the §64-LFGB-Working group “Mykotoxine” and the method description in German will be published in the method collection according §64-LFGB (BVL L 15.04-1) in January 2012.
The National Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins of the BfR has developed a method for the determination of T-2 and HT-2 toxins in cereal products (oat and oat products) for infants and young children using LC-MS/MS. The method has been published in the official collection of the LFGB §64 in 2012 (BVL L 15.04-1:2012-01 Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Mykotoxine T-2-Toxin und HT-2-Toxin in Hafer und Hafererzeugnissen mittels HPLC-MS/MS nach Reinigung an einer Festphase). In addition, the method was included as a project within the framework of CEN mandate M/520 and is now available as DIN EN 16923:2017-08 "Foodstuffs - Determination of T-2 toxin and HT-2 toxin in cereals and cereal products for infants and young children by LC-MS/MS after SPE cleanup”.
