Project code: FLI-ING-08-Ma-0100
Contract period: 01.01.2018 - 31.10.2020
Purpose of research: Applied research

The project strengthens and extends research activities of a multidisciplinary research activity at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI), which focusses on genetic, physiological and behavioral biological aspects of performance efficiency and biological limits in laying chicken. Specific questions concerning the bone stability under varying environmental factors relevant to the field of molecular animal breeding will be studied. In four chicken lines, which diverge in their phylogenetic origin and performance level, we aim at identifying regions that are associated with bone stability and calcium metabolism in a genome-wide comparison between high and low performance lines of the laying hen.
