Project objective: - Composition of hazelnut plantations with an innovative cultivation system for future testing of the cultivation system and suitable hazelnut varieties for Thuringia and evaluation (with focus on tree nursery aspects) regarding seedling cultivation of graftings, - Testing of the innovative cultivation systems and respective sorts/ sorts-substratum-combinations depending on planting time and first initial yields, - Acquisition of business data for later assessment of yield possibilities and profitability, - Investigation of Thuringian hazelnuts on value-adding ingredients. With these objectives, the basis for the long-term goal of a possible establishment of a niche production of hazelnuts in Thuringia should be laid for regional supply.
