Purpose of research: Applied research
A selection of farms that are involved in the exemplary demonstration network 'small grain legumes” of the protein crop strategy will be analysed regarding agronomic issues. The following goals are to be achieved: - Identification and weighting of essential, agronomic factors influencing the success of the cultivation of small grain legumes in practice. - Supplement to individual results of the 'small grain legumes” project with the objective to deduce location-based optimization strategies for the cultivation of clover species or alfalfa and a decision support for the farm-specific species selection. - Use of synergies from the combination of the network-investigations and specific supplementary data collected on the network-farms. In order to achieve the objectives data of 80 fields cultivated with small grain legumes will be evaluated in 2020 and 2021. Additional to the data collected in the network various soil and plant parameters will be evaluated at one measurement area per field as well as weather data. Statistical and case analyses will be used to identify the practical relevant factors of several target variables including yield and composition of mixtures.
