Collaborative project: Autonomous situation-based cleaning: Self-learning, real-time optimized tank cleaning in the food industry - subproject A (autoRein)

Project

Project code: 281A513A19
Contract period: 01.10.2020 - 30.09.2023
Budget: 759,353 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: AI Artificial Intelligence, food processing, digital world, hygiene, process quality, data management, food safety, sensor technology, management planning, milk

The aim of the project is to develop an intelligent cleaning system, including the associated hardware and software components, with which the digital transformation of tank cleaning in the food industry can be achieved. The cleaning system should react completely autonomously and depending on the situation to the strongly varying levels of contamination by adapting and readjusting it inline as required. This is made possible by the planned development of a combined system consisting of a freely parameterizable actuator (tank cleaner) with an integrated, innovative contamination sensor system that detects the current state of contamination in the tank in real time. Together with the historical data that is built up, the intelligent process control enables the cleaning processes to be carried out close to the respective optimum, depending on the situation. Underpinned by studies in milk processing companies, cleaning times are to be reduced by = 50%.
