Collaborative project: Adaption of nozzles and sensors for gap switching - pre condition for the accurate spraying in orchards – Subproject 2
Project
Project code: 2815406810
Contract period: 01.03.2012
- 28.02.2015
Budget: 221,416 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
As part of a three year project, a master plan for an optimized tree gap detection for a focused plant protection application and drift minimization in horticultural production systems should be developed. For this reason, a radial fan sprayer was equipped with a suitable combination of sensors and nozzles and a control computer. Afterward, the prototype was tested under practical conditions. The technical request for the gap detection was a high compliance between sensory detection of the scanning field and the spatial extend of the spraying area of a single nozzle. During application, it has been shown, that a precision application can reduce the output quantity of plant protection products and minimize the entry into the tree gap. In the follow-up project OLSVA, the evaluation of the biological efficiency of the gap detection system with different sprayer types as well as the practical suitability will be under further investigation to establish a marketable product.
