Measures to increase the cultivation of medical plants in Germany

It is possible to increase the cultivation of medical crops in Germany if higher contents of valuable ingredients can be achieved by simple measures in agriculture. Fertilization is one procedure to increase valuable compounds in crops but another important option is the targeted application of stress. It is the aim of the project to quantify the influence of water and salt stress and the application of methyl-jasmonate and salicylic acid on valuable ingredients of very different crops to develop strategies to grow medical crops rich in active agents under German agricultural conditions.
