Collaborative project: Development of a decision support tool in the use of insecticides against the monovalent (Eupoecilia ambiguella) and crossed the grape berry moth (Lobesia botrana) viticulture in the context of Integrated Pest Management (M-OVICARD - Moth Oviposition Cards) - Subproject 1
Project
Project code: 2814701611, JKI-OW-08-1175
Contract period: 01.10.2013
- 28.02.2017
Budget: 364,746 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
For integrated pest management of grapevine moths in viticulture, a suitable tool for insecticides treatments is missing, which enables a calculation of infestation levels as well as timing of applications. This leads to prophylactic insecticide treatments. The project should create such a decision support system. An attractive “moth oviposition card” (M-OVICARD) was developed, which has a specific surface structure to fulfill the tactile key stimuli for oviposition. The tool was equipped with attractive volatile infochemicals in a defined concentration. Volatile organic compounds as well as surface waxes were identified on the basis of the host plant grapevine. After a pending formulation phase and further field tests, which assess the competitiveness of the M-OVICARD to berries, this biotechnology system could be used to identify thresholds and reduce insecticide applications.
