Development of breeding requirements for the development of garden asparagus resistant to the Asparagus vitus 1(AV-1)
Project
Project code: 2812NA078
Contract period: 01.07.2015
- 31.12.2019
Budget: 242,001 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The project includes the development of efficient methods for virus evidence, inoculation and selection as well as investigations of resistance mechanisms of four different wild relatives of asparagus. Furthermore basics for an in vitro test approach will be developed. The resistance to the AV-1 will be transferred via interspecific hybridization and recurrent backcrosses from A. prostrates into the garden asparagus. The activity and stability of the resistance in the genetic background of A. officinalis will be investigated. Results will be published in scientific journals and other public domains. Pre-breeding material and methodical know how will be available for the international scientific and German breeding community.
