Purpose of research: Experimental development
The joint project 'DataPlant' combines data handling and analyzing techniques with the development of new sensor technology by targeting recognition and evaluation of Cercospora leaf blotch infestation in sugar beet. Start and course of disease severity are influenced by many parameters. Therefore the 'Big Data” approach is suitable to receive a deeper knowledge. Parameters from different data sources are brought together and it is worked out whether it is possible to isolate new correlations from the broader information, able to allow a better evaluation. Available data sources are used and new sensors are developed. The work performed at Technical University of Dortmund is focused on the development of algorithms to combine data from different sources with different formats, accuracy and measurement intervalls.
