Purpose of research: Applied research
A comparative study of the various alternative forms of financing along the value chain for organic food should be carried out. The characteristics, potentials and challenges of these forms of financing are made visible and made available as a decision-making aid for interested farmers as well as consumers / small-scale investors. The focus is on the types of investments that are currently being financed through the involvement of consumers / small investors and how this cooperation can be better organized in future in order to achieve sustainable production, processing and marketing of organic food. These objectives are to be achieved with a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. One focus of the project is on the practical preparation and dissemination of the results. AP1 Literature analysis and collection of alternative financing models: 1.1; Literature analysis; 1.2; Search for existing projects. AP2 online survey: 2.1; Validation and critical discussion of the results, conceptualization of the methodical approach of the online survey: 2.2; online survey with projects and initiatives identified in the framework of the survey; 2.3; Evaluation of the collected data and categorization of the identified financing initiatives. AP3 case studies: 3.1; Validation and critical discussion of the results, conceptualization of the methodological approach of the case studies; 3.2; Case studies. AP4 Systematisation of results: comparison of results and derivation of recommendations for action. AP5 Dissemination and transfer of knowledge: 5.1; Preparation of information as decision-making aids; 5.2; Accompanying publications of results.
