Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Data about food waste in Germany are sparse. The objective of this study is to give a summary about available data and information gaps concerning food waste in Germany, differentiated by waste generators (food producing industry, whole sale and retail, large-scale consumers, households), to provide an estimation of the quantities of food waste for the different waste generators in Germany, which is based upon reliable date and to elaborate recommendations for the prevention of food waste taking into account the possibilities of their implementation and possible costs and benefits.
