Description

At P. H. PETERSEN, we continue to cultivate new varieties which meet the current requirements of agricultural practice.

The whole cultivation facility now comprises around 50 hectares for the breeding yards, performance tests and propagation of preliminary crops. Resistance tests and breeding trials are carried out in climate-controlled greenhouses to ensure successful cultivation.

We begin by cross-breeding suitable parent plants, and then select specific valued properties in the following generations such as yield, nematode-resistance, inclination to flower, field development, production of mass and many other characteristics. Promising candidates are propagated in isolation in order to avoid cross-pollination and presented for approval by the Federal Office of Plant Varieties.

An intensive exchange with research institutes, consultants and agriculturists provides valuable ideas and suggestions for efficient variety developments and results in practice-oriented solutions.
