EDENext - Biology and control of vector-borne infections in Europe

Collaborative Project

Project code: 261504
Contract period: 01.01.2011 - 31.12.2014
Budget: 11981710 Euro
Coordinating institution: French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development

EDENext, Biology and control of vector-borne infections in Europe, is a research project bringing together 46 international partners dedicated to investigating the biological, ecological and epidemiological components of vector-borne disease introduction, emergence and spread, and the creation of new tools to control them. Main goal of the EDENext Public Health work package is to establish a common approach for a Public Health concept within this project which will then be used as a basis to integrate and connect other EDENext research groups to Public Health in order to stimulate the translation process of research results to the stakeholder and political decision makers. Within the EDENext framework, diagnostic tools for the detection of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus (CCHFV) specific antibodies in serum samples of ruminants are being developed. These novel assays will be used for a large scale seroprevalence study on international level focusing on ruminants in countries of South-Eastern Europe to investigate the distribution of CCHFV.
