SFB 670 TP19: Toll-related Intracellular Receptors in Plant Innate Immunity
Project
Project code: DFG SFB 670
Contract period: 01.01.2006
- 31.12.2010
Purpose of research: Basic research
In plants and animals, cell autonomous immune responses confer an essential first line of defence against invasive pathogens. Our aim is to characterize plant intracellular immune receptor complexes of the Toll-nucleotide binding/oligomerization-leucine rich repeat (TIR-NB-LRR) type that resemble mammalian innate immunity/apoptotic sensors. In particular, we wish to define molecular processes that couple recognition of pathogen effector molecules to activation of defences. These studies, in combination with a search for cellular targets of the corresponding effectors should provide insights to fundamental principles of microbial pathogenicity and cellular non-self recognition.
