Sensor data - Characteristics - Marker association of the genetic Co/localization of plant stress responses

Project

Project code: 0315530
Contract period: 01.01.2009 - 31.12.2014
Purpose of research: Basic research

Marker-Trait-Association under drought stress The project focuses on the detection of QTLs in a spring barley MAGIC population. Besides phenotyping yield components traits we focus on non invasive determination of the water content in leaves with the THz-Sensor. The experiment is set up in two different water environments, under well watered and terminal drought conditions. We are using SNP-Markers for genotyping the population. The MAGIC population examined in this research consists of progenies of an eight parent cross. The parents were chosen due to their contribution to German spring barley breeding (founder of germen barley breeding) and wide genetic variation. The larger number of parental accessions increases the allelic and phenotypic diversity over traditional diallelic crosses, potentially increasing the number of QTL that segregate in the cross. The larger number of accumulated recombinant events increases the mapping accuracy of the detected QTL. Characterisation and expression of DREB-Genes Correlation of gene expression with traits for drought tolerance as measured by non-destructive sensor methods.
