Advanced Monitoring of Tree Crops for Optimized Management - How to Cope With Variability in Soil and Plant Properties?
Project
Project code: 2810ERA104
Contract period: 01.05.2011
- 30.04.2013
Budget: 80,397 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The autonomous robot AMS (Autonomous Mechanization System) at Hohenheim University will carry the units for sensing, communication and data storage serving to detect tree and fruit specific growth and quality parameters. According to the sampling plan, the platform will navigate autonomously through the tree plantation and will trigger the communication and sensing components and will download the real-time or cashed data from the sensors for transfer to GIS. All the acquired data will be stored and georeferenced
by using the GNSS-system of the robot. A sampling strategy for measuring fruit properties shall be developed to increase the operational efficiency of the data acquisition process in terms of time, sensor numbers and hence total sensor costs.
