SFB/TRR 32 Project D1 : Modelling of time-space patterns of energy and mass fluxes over heterogeneous land surfaces with special consideration of CO2 and H2O

Purpose of research: Basic research
The project tries to answer the question, how are heterogeneous surface patterns displayed in the fields of specific humidity and carbon dioxid in the atmosphere. Tools to reach this goal are meso/microscale modelling and area covering airborn measurements. While the measurements will be done in project D2, in D1 the main focus will be put on modelling with a non-hydrostatic model with a resolution down to 250m. Coupling with a Transregio-community SVAT-model and the development of a scale adaptive turbulence scheme will be the essential tasks for the first period.
